Dear Students and Friends
These are the pictures of Sakura planting at Noge, Yokohama.
These Sakura plants came back from Potomac Park of Washington,D.C.
Sakura trees were transplanted from a ship of NYK line from Yokohama under Yokohama Nursery Company(Planting/Gardening). They had send twice because first was not successful.
The idea of planting Japanese Sakura trees was Ms. Scidmore's and convinced the American President of that time to accept the offer. Dr. Takamine sponsored this venture and with many pro-American people in Japan. Sakura trees are the symbol of the American-Japanese friendship today.
