The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who can't read them.

August 30, 2013
Dear Students and Friends
What I learn from teaching many years is that the most important thing in studies is to read books. Anyone who read books surpass that of others. This is true in any languages.

"The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who can't read them."
Mark Twain
US writer
1835-1910

I want you to write about the most impressive book you have read and why you chose it.

Wise men learn more from fools than fools learn from wise men.

August 29, 2013
Dear Students and Friends
It is our third day of lesson in Surugadai Campus of Meiji University.
I understand you are working hard and tired, but you are young and now is the chance to study.

Today I want you to think what you have learned from your education in the elementary, kindergarten, or middle school(junior high school). Write anything you remember in your school life.

Never confuse a single defeat with a final defeat.

August 27/28, 2013
Dear Students and Friends
I would like to express my heart warming welcome to the students who are taking the Summer Seminar of Meiji University High School of 2013.
It is my seventh year with Meiji University High School students since I started this TOEIC classes for the Meji University High School.

I want you to read my Blog this week and write an English composition(essay) of 100 words or less next day from Wednesday to Friday.
Today I want you to think of the message I wrote and write an essay on the topic as well as a short self introduction of yourself.

Think about this message:
"Never confuse a single defeat with a final defeat."
決して一つの敗北を決定的な敗北だと勘違いしてはならない。

Only those who have the patience to do simple things perfectly will acquire the skill to do difficult things easily.

August 21, 2013
Dear Students and Friends
I found out two things recently.  One is that Tokyo University grading system is A,B, C, and F.
Most students will receive A's. Under this condition most students GPA will be 4.0 and they will have far advance grades to receive a full scholarship in the USA over "the private universities" students from Japan.
The other is I learn in the university that the Shogun's decree is above that of the emperor.  Japanese bureaucrats misinterpreted the decree that the imperial government gave to the supreme commander of pacifying the barbarians in  the eastern Japan(SEI I TaiSHOGUN) that it was in the war time but they said throughout any time.  So emperors hesitated of giving the title to Minamono no Yoritomo or Ashikaga Taga Takauji. They will be superior commanders above the emperor's decrees.( the Legal History of Japan )

Today's quote:
"Only those who have the patience to do simple things
perfectly will acquire the skill to do difficult things easily."
簡単なことを完璧にやる根気強い人たちだけが、難しいことを難なくこなす能力を身につける。
Johann Schiller
German poet and Dramatist
1759-1805

"切手のことを考えてみなさい。 その利用価値は、向こうに行き着くまで一つのものに貼りついていられることだ。”

Tomorrow I will start the classes in Mita Campus of Keio University Summer School of their Extension classes.
I will take the Japanese Economic History and the Japanese Legal History, both have huge books to read in a week. I think a year of intensive study of Japanese is needed, so I will do so.
I started retaking courses in the university was to get  credentials in teaching social studies in Japanese high school and still pursuing today for that.

Dear Students and Friends
When I was writing a Master's thesis, I had met Ogata Sadako, who was an associate professor of International Christian University.  My impression of her was a young kind intelligent scholar.  I am very grateful for her help and advice in writing my paper.

The film director, Oliver Stone came to Japan and said:
"Those don't care the past, don't care the future."
Surprisingly what he said in Japan is that many Japanese say the Atomic Bomb caused the Japanese surrender earlier than expected but what he said was Japanese made the decision to accept the Potsdam Agreement due to the Soviet Union entry to the war and not that of A bomb; he mentioned that there is no excuse on the part of the USA to use the atomic bomb and kill a huge number of civilians.
He mentioned that only those who went to the war understand the tragedy and never to have it again.

Love does not consist in gazing at each other but in looking outward together in the same direction.

August 8, 2013
Dear Students and Friends
I am traveling everyday with my daughter, Mary to Keio University, Hiyoshi.  She is taking Law and English Writing and I am taking Japanese and Turkish Ottoman Empire History. I never expected five years ago this would happen. It is my pleasure to go to university together. The torch is silently passed to next generation.

Why didst thou promise such a beauteous day, And make me travel forth without my clock?

A good storyteller is a person who has a good memory and hopes other people haven't.

August 3, 2013
Dear Students and Friends
After shocking request from IRS I had a little energy or mind to write anything. But a nice request by Henry Mittwer's grandchildren's mail gave me a little energy to start writing some verses to re-establish myself as the most wanted career of writing.
I still would like to write few lines from Quote...Unquote. but to re-start is the most important thing.
