A Memorial Service of John G. Komor

a mentor of Life

a long time president of Yokohama Foreign General Cemetery.

I was with him as a secretary of Yokohama Foreign General Cemetery for 30 some years, first met him on the train from Tokyo after the Cemetery meeting at Tokyo Kougyou Club in 1985 under Mr. Baker-Bates told us that the British Embassy group cannot take care of the Cemetery and Yokohama foreigners should do it. He took the presidency and we were able to build the present building and the fund of 400, 000,000 yen to have Koueki Zaidan Houjin.

More than that he found my father, Captain Ralph A. Caswell who returned the key of the Masonic Lodge in #1, Yamatecho under the command of General Eickelberger to Mr. Komor's father who was very active in requesting the return of the Masonic Lodge.

I was able to have a reunion with my father after fifty years.

I will never forget his kindness and perseverance for this.

One guest speaker was a teacher from Finland. Finland had decided to live with educated population; put money and effort in educating their citizens with income of teachers about two times of others and specialized university degree with it.

HongKong Japanese School global education was very impressive using Math and English learning together. Got the brochures I asked Kermit before and now know what they are.

Ikeda Sensei of Sophia University, the expert on the field of CLIL guided and sponsored us.

The theory and practice rituals are well explained. At the Konshinkai, dinner we had a chance of exchanging our thoughts and Sensei mentioned that Sophia U. is no longer ahead of other private schools, even English language department peak was in 1980's and 1990's, now students will choose Keio and Waseda. The two plus Todai are the inevitable top institutions in Japan. Sensei is a Waseda undergraduate and the president of Sophia U. is longer a Jesuit but a Keio U. graduate.
