Brothers of SJC in 1960's
Brother Francis was a gentleman Brother.Later he visited the school in 1978.
I found out later he was in SJC in 1930's but never studied Japanese and
had not much interest in the culture or history of Japan.
On the other hand Brother John Sullivan wanted to teach English to Japanese Marianist school
students. He went to Gyosei but return when I was in high school. He taught us business course but
was not as enthusiastic as I heard from Mr. Chris Chang.
Later I met him in Sophia's graduate school as a student but he was the Vice principal of ASIJ and was recruiting Mr. Gallagher and Mr. Staples, both star teachers of SJC.
I think he was the one who built ASIJ reputation in 1970's.
I saw many good Brothers left Marianists in 1960's.
As the Superior of the Society once had said, " Good die young and Intelligent ones leave, that is the reason we have problems"
