ケネデイ大統領の名演説。。。

September 30, 2013
Dear Friends and Students
I would like to write the coming week's Oral Interpretation. It would be Kennedy's speech.

"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty."
US President John F. Kennedy
Inaugural Address
January 20, 1961

September 29, 2013
Dear Students and Friends
"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."
Charles Caleb Colton
English Cleric and Writer
1780-1832
"模倣とは、最も誠実な追従なり。”
One thing that Professor Kevin Mark stresses in his class is "shadowing" or imitation.
We should try this method in English conversation classes this week.
Imitation is the base of any educational method in any countries or any language teaching.

About twenty years ago, the professor in Tsukuba University said what he learnt from his professor in Kobe University was that the secret of language learning is "imitation, imitation, imitation."

So, let's imitate.

Nature has given to men one tongue, but two ears...

September 27, 2013
Dear Students and Friends

You should think about the message and write about it in your notebook.

Dear Students and Friends

I ask all the students to read my Blogs and think about the messages I am giving; and write 50 to 100 words writing(essay/composition) from the message. Some may write for the writing class and others for the presentation in a class.

Message of September 26, 2013:

Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital....Abraham Lincoln

September 25, 2013
Dear Students and Friends

I hope all of you are doing fine. I hear a complain that we are not on schedule and not learning for 90 minutes. I would strongly follow the complain or request to follow the schedule as we should.
However, this would be a labor we have to follow in the coming semester. Let's welcome this.

"Labor is prior to, and independent of capital.  Capital is only the fruit of labor and could never have existed if labor had not first existed.  Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration."
Abraham Lincoln
16th President of the USA
1809-1865

成果に過ぎず、最初に労働が存在していなければ、絶対に存在しえなかった。
労働は資本に勝るものであり、資本よりはるかに考慮すべき価値がある。

Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.

I think the most important thing in education is to read, more than just attending classes.

He that is proud, eats up himself: pride is his own glass, his own trumpet, his own chronicle. Shakespeare(Troilus and Cressida,Act 2. Sc.3)

September 23, 2013
Dear Students and Friends
We had a mass for the graduates and teachers who died in 2012-2013 and  those who died before.
We had it in Yamate catholic Cathedral and later to Yokohama Foreign General Cemetery
to visit the graves of our teachers.
It is season to visit the graves of our ancestor in Asia.
Did you visit one?

Thursday, September 19 was the full moon of autumn, a very important day for the Chinese.
It was also same day as the Japanese Army attacked the Nationalist China at Marco Polo Bridge in Mukden.  Why armies attack the foe in time of Feast?  It is maybe the others are not prepared and easier for them to start the battle. Hope Japan learn from the mistake, if they think it was a wrong choice.

It is easier to do a job right than to explain why you didn't.

"It is easier to do a job right than to explain why you didn't."
Martin Van Buren
Eighth US President
1782-1862

I had a chance to see Mr. Shimura who is the right hand man of Mr. Fujiki, a big man in Yokohama.
He explained how big people receive incomes from their inferiors.  This is true for most politicians, religious groups or any hierarchical structures, top gets the most.

Dear Students and Friends

We had a typhoon this morning, but more than that rain in Kyoto flooded Katsura River.
Tomorrow Nihon University will start their second semester. That means I have to start working.
The Blog will be used by the university students to be read for writing their Journals.
The first thing is always Self Introduction.
